98 Accord Coupe Interior Lighting Problem...
My friend recently purchased a 98 accord coupe and had an eclipse 5500 installed by his friend who really didnt know what he was doing. I was told orignally that the kid who installted the radio did not know how to hook up the illumination wire and originally ended up hooking the orange (illumination) wire to the yellow (constant power) wire at the radio harness. The end result was that my friends interior lights were on for about 2 days while he was away and it killed his battery. Well now his interior lights are not operating properly. None of the cluster lights come on or other dash lights. The clock displays, mile display, and a/c display and maybe one other light is illuminated, but the second u turn on parklights or headlights they cut out. I cant figure out what the problem is. I checked all thse regular mini fuses in all three fuse boxes (driver side, passenger side, under hood), are there any more im missing? I did not check the large fuses under the hood, only the mini fuses. Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be? His dimmer switch by the clusters dont operate anymore either. Could some serious damage have been done, or is this fixable?
I fail to see how a bad wire job on a nav system could cause the interior lights to stay on.
First thing I would do Is disconnect the nav system.
