Default Someone has to know what causes................

My car spent all day yesterday in shop number two. It seems to be arcing between the spark plug boot and the head. He swapped the wires and it still does it. It does it when you rev it up above about 1500 rpm.

Is it a short in something?

Yeah, try new wires if you haven't. Where is it arcing? Near the distributor or at the valve cover boot or what?

New plugs, new cap, new wires, sending it to a BMW guy next week. The local Honda/Acura experts said they don't know and basically don't want to be bothered.

They checked those also. The BMW is confident. He has like six techs.

Well, they did the valves and I quess one was too tight. It doesn't die but is still arcing between the plug lead and the head.

Anyone know why it does this. Too much voltage coming out if the coil, maybe?

My mechanic says for some reason it's arcing between the plug boot and the head. New wires and plugs. They have even been swapped out. Ground is good. The car is bone stock. No mods.

Evidently, no one has ever seen this before in the history of Preludes..........
