Default H23 with h22 head

WEll in my civic i have the H23 vtec.... and now my oil pressure light flashes, then when i tried to accelarate the car started to sputter and almost stalled out is it mean that my oil pump is going out...or is it the oil pressure sendin unit thats bad....how about a spun rod bearing....What i have done so far is drain the oil and checked the dip stick but thier was no shavings so what can i do?

sounds like you spun a bearing... especially trying to accelerate while the oil light was on... that light on is very bad.

is it making any knocking noises? you need a real oil pressure gage. i hate dummy lights.

i had my dummy light gop off and it scared the **** out of me, so i killed the car. then i watched my gage and my oil pressure was act ok, so i drove home with the light on. turned out to be a bad diode on the alt causing crazy signals to the ecu...on the other hand i had an integra i didnt care about, that i drove with thte dummy light on, about 10 miles later, BOOM scattered the engine...

oh ya- how long has the engine been running? who put the vtec head on? did you remove the oil control orrifce plug?

not to jump in off topic here but i just bought my friends h23 prelude with a custom turbo kit on it, and i have the same problem with the oil light coming on, when i first start the car up and drive it normal the oil light stays off and the car runs and idols fine however after i really get on it the oil light flickers on and off and the car goes down to die. whats up with this?

If you have a turbo you should really have a Oil pressure gauge on there to make sure you aren't starving the motor for oil... friction is bad
