where to get grade8/metric10.9 nuts & bolts?
i have my new sparco evo bucket with base/rails sitting here in my living room but i can't find the proper nuts & bolts. i've tried 2 pep boys and autozone sucks. is the grade 5 stuff they have at home depot strong enough for this application? anybody know a mailorder place that carries strong hardware? any fellow connectifucks know a place in the stamford area that might carry this stuff?
Actually, Pep Boys has a pretty awful (and overpriced) selection (at least the three that I visited had).
Try Home Depot - or Orchard Supply is even better (if you have them in your area).

i have little luck with metric chit at home depot. out here with have these little places still left called "hard ware stores" the ones that havent been run outta town by the big boys still carry metric hardware... try a "servistar" if you have one.
i had this same problem looking for 10.9 bolts! look in the yellow pages under nuts and bolts, or bolts and nuts, and you should find a specialty shop that sells them. i found a shop near me that sold bolts that looked like stock except that they were silver instead of bronze

i talked to home depo(si)t on the phone, their highest grade is 5. is this strong enough to use for seat mounting?
pep boys does carry the proper hardware, but they do NOT restock them regularly. the local pep boy said they do not make an effort to keep things stocked or organized. napa is out of stock. autozone is a joke.

Orchard Supply has some nice 12.9 grade metric bolts. I'm also using them to mount Evo seats. Look under 'Fasteners' in your local yellow pages.
MSC has EVERY conceivable type of nut/bolt/fastener you could want.

Look in phone book for a company named "Fastenal". Huge fastener retailer with over 600 outlets nationwide, They also have an on-line catalog

I've found some at TrakAuto, too... And PepBoy's selection would be great if bolts were in the right bins... or that they would at least maintain inventory.
check what aleph sent me:

it explains the difference between grade 5 and grade 8 and how to tell them apart. it looks like grade 8 bolts are about 25% stronger than grade 5 (not sure if i'm right though).

Yup. Grade 8's are stronger than grade 5's.
In metric ratings the strength goes up as the number increases (8.8, etc) also.
Aircraft are stronger yet and less likely to break. 8's should be more than good enough and stronger than the seat or the floor board that its mounted to.
