Default SOHC Cheap Thrill...

Just had some interesting fun to share. 92 civic cx with dx transplant, ( yea i know, why?) but anyhow this combined with 94 Si tranny, ngk wires & plugs 13 in steelies and rear seat pulled, gave a surprising 16.5 quarter at 82 mph. slow exit of the quarter do to low tire pressure it was fallen on its face cause of the excess weight being thrown could have been 16.3-16.4 with proper pressure. Now iv'e added a91 Si head (yep 91 had much better and larger valves and tb.) newer si ECU newer times 14.57 quarter with upper 90's speed. if you were to take this and add a bottle i believe it could achieve upper 12's to lower 13 sec quarters... dont know if this has been done before but a friend of mine fanagled this setup and i must say for a sohc, i was stupified at its ability also should share that this head was port & polished and decked about .80000 ( yeah ! ). just wondering if anyone has done simialer things?

My stock DX hatch. Completely stock. Full Interior, stock timing, spare, a/c, everything...went 16.50

My friends CX had a dx bottom with a ex/si head..open dc header, vafc, aem cai, and home port and polish..went 12.90 on nitto nt555r's and an 80shot.

:cough:cough:bullshit!!!!!!

Stock DX will run 16.2
88-95 SOHC 16 Valve non vtec heads are all the same except for the valvesprings and cam.

You milled over 3/4" of a inch off the head? Let alone cam timing issues, what timing belt did you use?

FYI stock DX HB with I/H/E/CRX Si cam nets about 135 hp at the crank and runs 15.0s with a close ratio tranny and slicks.

Bullshit posting *******!!!!!

no not 3/4 of an inch bone. 3/4 of an inch would be hmmm no valve seats left which is what i'm assuming your getting at no it was actually 80,000 thousandths shaved off... sorry if you miss-understood what i meant... and according to hearsay from the factory (Honda) stock 1.5 litre dx new out of the box was 16.7 under more than perfect conditions but your imput was welcomed....

80 thousandths is 0.080

maybe this will help, prolly not.
easy to remember because you can just barely fit 999 into 1000
so, 0.999 is 999 thousandths.
add 0.001 and you have a full inch.
math is fun.
