To be quite honest partner, you are not MUCH better off than what we have here with our EM2 coupes and ES1 sedans.
We have the D17, which is the 1.7 L 127 HP motor. So we do have a larger motor, but not much more power.
Pretty much your only option to make it decently quick, will be a K series motor swap, or to turbocharge your current motor. But even if you turbocharged the current motor, with the 1.6L, I do not believe it would be really much better than what you would have in the first place.
But for a daily driver, that EP3 would be an awesome buy, IMO. It does have a good bit of potential though. But that potential lies in how much money you want to pump into it.
Hope that helps.
We also have an FAQ thread up top, for your reading pleasure. Pretty much anything you need to know about a swap, or whatnot, will be there if you ever were to need it.
But there is a section of H-T dedicated to the EP3's, and the DC5 RSX's. So your questions will be awnsered there as well. But remember, all of the USDM EP3's came with a K series motor (similar to the UK's EP3 Civic Type R). So you may have few responses to threads about engines and what not.

I'm not a huge fan of EP3's. There's only a few decent instances of clean looking EP3's that I'd drive (personal choice). Pre-EP3 hatchbacks look much better, in my opinion. As far as the recent Civic creations, I'd much rather have the coupe than the hatchback.
