No spark, no fuel, try this!
After 2 weeks of trying to fix my son's car that wouldn't start, I found the answer to be fuse #14- alternator. At first I knew I had no spark so I tested then replaced the distributor-$260.00 then tried the main relay, and various other things but no help! Today I thought , do I have fuel? What do you know, the fuel pump didn't work either. SO I used SEARCH and found the beginning to solve my no start problem. Fuse #14 was blown, replaced and after 2 weeks and a ton of wasted money, the car fired right up!
Now my problem, after turning off key, car won't start and fuse is blown again. Any ideas where to stert my search for a shorted wire? Car will continue to start if I use a 20 amp fuse ( insted of the 10 amp required) but a 10 amp fuse blowes after 1 start. Any ideas are appreciated.

yes that fuse if blown will cut the fuel and ignition, a good think to know if you plan to park in a unsavory location just remove the fuse
I would have the alternator checked to start off, if its good start looking at the wires, it could be a wire thats half frayed or broken partially inside the plastic covering, check the wires with a ohm meter to see if one has more resistance than the others

Alternator was replaced recently. white wire from engine compartment fuse box was corroded and broke at the alternator so I disconnected it and ran a replacement wire from the fuse box to the alt. Could leaving the old wire in the harness cause a short, or what? I replced the 10 amp fuse with a 20 and it cranks every time, just don't like putting my son on the road with an undependable car.
hey i dont wanan inturrupt this convo but i need some help as well just a quick question is it alright if you dont hear your fuel pump priming?? cuz somebody said its alright and others say if you dont hear it then its the problem.
hmm i had similar problem with my 90 crx dx turned out the tank was ocrroded form sitting and previous owner never put in dry gas, the fule pump was starting to die due to being clogged with rust and ****, after pulling down tank i realized i need a new tank and fuel pump, wat happend was pump burned up n caused to much power to the dist. and burned up the igntor after new distributor, tank, pump and fuse she ran good havent had a problem since.. just something to consider i geuss
