i was wondering , i believe i can do this but i just want to make sure..
i have a stock d15b engine in my 92 coupe, can i take out the d15 block and head, and replace it with a d16y8 head and block with the stock tranny? if i just change blocks and heads will it bolt up??? question may sound dumb but i wanna be 100% shure... thanks

 

so basically you want to swap out your entire d15b for a d16y8?

if you had another question that mentioned that i sort of caught...yes, those 2 motors can mis-match heads and blocks also. you need to figure out the wiring tho, depending on what youll be doing

 

do a search under minime / mini-me / mini me. either of those three will yield tons of threads covering your question.

He might have a VTEC d15b in which case it's not a mini-me setup.

@ OP:
The heads are interchangable. May need re-wiring or something or different ECU I don't know. Though mechanically you can put the Y8 head on it.

i think what he is asking is if his tranny will bolt up to a d16y8

if that is it, then yes. d series trannies are interchangeable
