Blue Painters tape on an EK?
what's the deal with the blue masking tape in pictures such as the EK in on this site?

What about painters tape would make it seem fresh? 
It's called a bra. People put them on for long drives when they have nice paint. Leaves minimal residue that removes with a wash, protects your front end, and doesn't scratch your paint like a normal bra.

Its also used when you take your car to the track. Use it to protect parts of your car from flying rocks, cause they really fly in the air when a car in front of you puts a wheel off in the dirt.
