So I'm curious if the VX wheels fit on my '96 DX Hatchback. The brakes are all stock on my car and it came with 13" steelies, so I'm thinking they will fit. I've gotten different answers on other forums, so I thought I'd hit up the tech.

So will they fit or do I need to step up to HX's?

I'd rather have the VX...call me crazy, but yeah...will the VX fit?

Most likely no. The VX rim has some crazy offset. That will most likely interfere with your brake calipers in a bad way. But you can run 13"s on that car, I do.

The other downside to running a 13" rim is tire selection, it is icredibely limited and it's mostly all crap, although usually very cheap. Going to a 15" rim or even a 14" rim will give you many many more choices of tires to choose from.

So, denying you had chrome wheels I see?

You could try a test fit and see how they fit, bit if you have to step up to HXs, check out the painted HX thread for ideas.

 

If you need me to, I'll find out for you-- I have a set of VX wheels laying around I could try to put on my 96 cx. Let me know.

LOL...quit stalking me.

I actually sold those wheels about a week ago...drove around with "buy my wheels" in shoe polish on the back and had someone buy them from me at a gas station after about 30 minutes of driving around...It was funny. I've been trying to sell them for years and go drive around for 30 minutes with that written on the back of my hatch and they're out of my life just like that. HAHA!

I was gonna get a set of the VX's on ebay...but the guy did not have the shipping calculator right. It said for all five wheels, but it was actually each wheel shipped individually. Making the cost almost double for the wheels shipped...so I said forget it.

If you've got the time...then yeah...I'd like to see if they fit....heck, take a picture of the car with them on, so I can get an idea...I've only seen the HX's on an EK...not the VX's.

 

I checked them and they fit just fine. No brake clearance problems. Couldn't really take any pictures of the car on the ground because I don't have tires on those wheels, but I did take a picture to prove I put them on there.
