Power steering question
Hey all, i got a civic ex coupe with a b16a in it not too long ago, and the guy that had it b4 me took the power sterring and ac off, im fine without both, never had either one on any of my cars :-p. and its still got the rack and pinion for the power steering, but i dont want the power steering rack and pinion, i was wondering if i could take the rack and pinion out of a 92-94 civic without power steering?? if i can... does anyone have one that they would either want to trade, or sell?
Thanks, pm me or e-mail me at civicxman103@yahoo.com

I've never done a auto > manual steering rack conversion so I'm stupid in this area....how does ABS come into play with the steering rack?
At OP?
Yeah, take one from any 92-95 civic that didn't originally have power steering and it shoudl be a straight up swap. I'd take it from a DX coupe or LX coupe (non ps ones) just b/c they're both coupes...but I'm pretty sure one from any civic 92-95 will work fine

w/o ABS a lot easier. No need to drop the subframe, just unbolt the rack, the steering knuckle and voila!!!
w/ ABS, drop the subframe, and disconnect the ABS lines...not fun at all, this will be a project.

Well, I don't think you can just take it off. Your brakes rely on the ABS function, and while I know nothing about ABS, I would imagine that its safer with it on, than with it off.
If I remember correctly the sub frame is also a little bit different but only in the mounting bracket on the right hand side of the car. The manual rack sub frame has a straight bracket welded to the sub frame and the power rack has an cup that accepts the thicker power steering rack. You should just be able to weld a piece in to make that a flat mounting surface. Going the other way you have to change the sub frame assy to make everything work
