Default friend's prelude overheated, now it won't start.

so my friend and i were driving yesterday when his car started overheating. the coolant level was filled and when we pulled over, there was steam coming from the coolant tank. it was so hot that the tank itself was boiling.

we were able to get the car back to his house safely but now the car is having a really hard time starting. it will start up but it won't idle. what do you think the problem could be? do you think he cracked the block?

thanks.

is the coolant mixed with oil? does it look like a milk shake under the valve cover

If you drove it when it was really hot you could have warped the head...

i hate to say it, but you may have really messed up that block really bad......

check the coolent and the oil, if they are mixed.... you could be in for a world of hurt on the old pocket book...

If you cracked the block your oil and coolant would be mixing so check the dip stick to see if its a cloudy mixture, to see if the head got warped from over heating do a compression test and post your numbers. Will the car stay running if you start it up and raise the rpms with the gas pedal? if it does do you hear any noises?

when your driving your car and it begins to over heat badly do yourself a favor and pull over and wait for it to cool down or have it towed, you'll be thanking yourself later.
