ok my car is completely dead and nothing has power to it at all

i was having problems with my lights and they would be very dim at idle so i fixed a few ground wires and tried to start up my car...starts fine but makes a sparking noise i tell my g/f to look for a spark so i start it up again and makes the same noise...i turn it off and then it goes dead... i am trying to figure out what this can be.. can a simple short kill my entire car? i switched batteries with a friend and nothing....tried jumping and nothing even with the wires on i couldn't even get power to my lights i checked all fuses and they are all fine...also everytime i hook up my battery a black box behind my radio under my dash makes a clicking noise like it is turning on i have no idea what this is or if it even has anything to do with the problem. i checked almost all wires i did with my dpfi to mpfi wiring and they are all fine....

its a 91 sedan dx with a Dohc ZC in it

any suggestions? this is my daily driver and i need to get to work! stupid electrical problems!!!

check your fuse under the dash. its for the main power on the car. when your car shorted out it must of blown the fuse. its a big 40 or 60 amp fuse.

 

u sure? i never seen one u mean its the big black thing plugged in on it?
ive checked em all under my dash and my hood and nothing is blown

 

any other suggestions? im soo f'ed on this and have no idea what else to check im tracing all wires to make sure everything is connected
