New to rice. Help-info-suggestions wanted.
I'm new to the honda bit and was wondering if anyone could provide some suggestions. For something to do as for a hobby I want to 'tinker' with my girl's car.
She just recently purchased an 89 civic hatchback.
Is it possible to go with a DOHC of any type?
What kinda body work or effects are optional for such year?
Any suggestions on suspention and exhaust ?
Also if you could provide names of possible resources such as magazines as well just for reading material and ideas.
Thank you.

#1any DOHC motor will fit, just get mounts from either hasport or place racing.
#2as far as body effects anythign from an 88-91 civic will fit, but most peopel tend to stick with the Wing west RS kit. it's the cleanest of all made for that model. basicly a mugen copy.
#3 suspension everyoen uslaly goes the route of Ground control coilovers and either Koni adjustables, or KYB agx's. to me coilovers are a bit overboard unless you'll spend alot of the time at the track or and timed events.
#3 pt.2 you could just go with a good set of lowering springs (progress, eibach, tanabe, etc) and a set of struts (kyb or koni's). and this would be fine for a daily driver.
#4 as far as magazines not alot of them cater to the 4g civic's and crx's, anymore. most have moved on to the 92-200 civic's and 93 and up integra's. so alot of you r help will come from various forums and trial and error, to see what works best for you.
