Recall Campaign - Engine Oil Leak
Hey everyone,
I just got an email yesterday about this. Not sure if anyone else did either. Please read below:
According to American Honda (AHM) records, your vehicle may be included in a RECALL CAMPAIGN. It needs an inspection and, if necessary, a repair. We realize that American Honda's information could be incorrect or their information might need to be updated.
David McDavid Honda of Irving would like to inspect your Honda Civic Si for a leak in engine oil at the rear main seal. For AHM to fully understand the cause of this occurrence, we would like to inspect the vehicle prior to you attempting a repair of any kind.
Please call us at 888-284-1515.
I am going to take my Si in to be checked. I will post more information as they give it to me.
Anyone else get this as well?

exactly how did they get your e-mail address? I would think that if there was some sort of specific recall on your vehicle, that they would send a letter through the mail. An e-mail just sounds kind of weird to me. Is it Legit?
I am signed up through Honda owner link. In addition, I believe I gave it to the dealer at the time of purchase. They probably kept my email address from all the communications back and forth.
This is very legit. Had a rear main seal leak before in a car, didn't work out well for me then. So, I am not taking any chances with this one.

Did you take your car in to have it checked? If so, what did they say about it?

yea, they said it was the seal between the engine and transmission. it took about 4-5 days to fix. they didnt have that part in stock so i took an extra day.
its not something they told me could just be "popped in place" they needed to remove the engine and all that crap. good thing i had warranty at the time.

i first got my si in january and in march i had a bad oil leak. it was the seal from the tranny, not engine oil. took it to honda and they fixed it no problem. strange the recall is 6-7 months later

Anyone know the VIN range?
So far, I having had any leaks. I am not taking any chances and taking advantage of the recall. Glad I only did the intake so far.
