Car rev limiting / cutting off @ 4k rpm
My woman's '01 ex has been rev limiting @ 4k rpms intermittently. I scanned the ECU today and got a code: P1259 mod#0e - Manufacturer Control Fuel Air Metering. Anyone know where I should start?
That is actually a VTEC system malfunctionon a Honda...
Check all the VTEC components to make sure they are working properly, the oil is freshly changed, and that you have adequate oil pressure. Usually the DTC will be thrown in an instance of a sudden drop in oil pressure (inadequate amount of oil) or a malfunction in the solenoid itself.
Hope that helps you out a bit.

aside from checking the oil levels and looking for the oil light going on, what can I do to check oil pressure levels?
I mean, short of installing a pressure gauge? My girl hates gauges.

Only thing I would know of, is to get the electrical specs to the pressure switch, and test it by itself. See how much resistance it offers on a multimeter.
Other than that, I am not sure.
