super rainstorm in chicago = car wont start
::let me preface this by saying 2 months ago, i got some nasty hydrolock because of my CAI, ended up replacing the H23 when it blew. converted CAI to SRI, NO water got into motor::
so it rains here in chicago, pretty heavy too. my street gets flooded. car is parked on street. streets are sloped towards the curbs, for drainage. so of course the sewers are backed up, and water is high enough where its above the 8 inch curbs.
right side of my car is in the water. there was no water inside the car... until i opened the passenger door. slipped my mind i guess, it was pouring and i was trying to get my kid in the car asap.
got in. right side of car got water in it, but only enough to soak the mats, wasnt an inch or anything like that. but front and back mats were soaked, as well as the carpet underneath.
opened hood, pointed my SRI tube straight up to make quadruple sure water wont get sucked in. started car, started weak because my flashers were on for about 2 hours (waiting out the storm). but it turned on. running SUPER rough though. every single time i revved past 3.1k, it was like rev limited right there. just rough as hell, stuttering, almost sounded like backfiring.
checked my plugs for some reason, they were all black. SUPER black. i had them out 2 days earlier and they were fine. replaced plugs, car still ran the same. finally got back home, dried inside of car out. went to go to work this morning, car wouldnt start. cranks fine, battery voltage fine. just doesnt kick on.
would something getting wet on the passenger side of motor cause this? any sensors? i cant recall off the top of my head where they all are, so i wouldnt know unless i get under the car and look, it was too dark last night. i need any and all ideas, i cannot afford to miss more work than i have

maybe ecu? i had an integra that wouldnt start till 2 days after a heavy rain. there was a leak on the passenger side and would get the ecu wet. try taking the ecu out, bring it inside and take the top off, let it dry over night inside your house, then try it tomorrow...

exactly what i was going to say
the ecu is in the passenger footwell....
that would make complete sense also, for it to rev limit at 3k and run rough, its in limp mode.....let that ecu dry out

Also, though you think it was helping, pointing the intake up is worse off than having it point down. When it's facing up and water gets in the tube through either vacuum or splash, where will it go? It has no place to go other than the TB and into the motor. By facing it down you can at least close the throttle and let the water run down on its own.

before i go back to the car, i want to make sure i get any and all ideas of what to check, as there is no internet for me to get on over there. i wanna go armed to the teeth
so ANY more possible ideas? i know ECU being wet is my best bet, just wanna be sure though.

i DID have a CAI in the wheel well, but i learned my lesson on that one
i actually did get stuck with no net access for a while lol, so that was half right. got the car started, it was the ECU that got soaked. the area where the ECU is had about 2 inches of water in it.
i got the ECU out, opened it up, and it was pretty wet inside. there is a plug in the bottom of the car body where the water was, popped it out and the water drained out. had to dry it up a little bit more but its good now. blow dried the ECU, the harnesses, plugged it back in, and it started right up.
same car it was before, wet ECU didnt damage anything
