is a poorman type r worth it or not? or should i just go straight gsr?

only if u do it right i see to many people slapping on heads and saying its a poor man type r u have to replace the head gasket and pistions in order for it to be a true poor mans. otherwise its just ****

From scratch, not worth it. If you already have everything from a B16 (head/tranny/pistons mostly), then yeah.

Changing the headgasket is essential but has nothing to do with making it a "true poorman's R"

More about swapping out the GSR pistons with at least ITR at the minimum and ITR cams at the minimum.

Exactly what he said, check out the link in my signiture for an example of a poormans ITR.
