ok My shoulder belt malfunctioned it will not retract to the driving position.
you know when you open the door the shoulder belt slides forward and when you get in and close the door it slides back?

it is the automatic retracting/sliding shoulder belts that have a track along the door

I checked with honda and it is not a problem with the retractor. it is a door/latch issue possibly the switch or bad wiring.

anyone come across this problem?

Did the service manager offer you any other information since this involves a safety mechanism in your vehicle? I thought the seatbelt assemblies and related equipment were covered for the life of the vehicle? Do you still have your owner's manual? If you contact contact Honda regional they may offer to service it.
Most likely, it may be the door latch contact in the door itself thats bad.

 

this sounds way too obvious but have you looked at the little "L" shaped piece that slides back & forth in the door sill? i believe that's what controls the dome light & the seatbelts.....wait maybe that's just on the rear doors...??

either way they MUST fix the problem for you unless you've tampered with the seatbelt system prior to this. and it's free
