so i posted about this before, and i was told that it might be the rear main seal. well, the eninge oil is fine. i swapped from an auto dx to a manual 5 speed from a 90 civic, and when i filled the trans up, it leaks oil from the flywheel cover. as far as i can tell, the leask has stopped, and i only had put two quarts of oil in the trans. i checked the fluid level today (its been bout a week sense the swap from auto to manual) and i can not tell if there is any oil in the trans. i stuck my finger in the fill hole, and it did not come out brown like it should with the 10-30 i put in it. it came out oily, but clear.. i think all the oil leaked out. is there a seal inside the trans that might need to be replaced?? i replaced both axle seals when i did the swap, and it has a new clutch and pressure plate package with throwout bearing.. could the seal on the shaft for the throout bearing be leaking??
please help.
please help.
i have the same problem
...its leaking where the trans and block meet. i replaced rear main seal, oil pan gasket, and driveshaft seals(needed it anyways)....and it's still leaking i hope someone answers your question...i'll be watching this thread!

It leaks about 1 quart every 3 weeks. I drive the car about 40 miles/day. A friend told me to use Lucas Oil transmission slip fix. I bought it but have not used it.

and yeah, i got beat to it..lazy lazy.......input shaft seal.
Might be a combination of rear main and input shaft, while you have it apart, replace BOTH for piece of mind...plus the parts are cheap. Do your throw out bearing as well. Nothing like piece of mind.

yea you will have to. in order to seat the seal right. you just have to take the casing apart... shouldnt be too hard.. going slow, i would say a 2 hour deal after the trans is out of course.
Sounds like this be part of my problem as well.
I did notice that my oil pan was really warped toay (bowed outwards on the transmission side) so I set it on a piece of wood and tapped it straight with a rubber mallet. You may want to check out your pan just to make sure it is straight while you are at it.

well, latest and last update. it was the main shaft seal that whent... however, when i cracked the trans case, the main bearing was shot as well. i had bearings falling out of my trans left and right... so, in trying to replace the main shaft bearing, i broke off the piece that the throw-out bearing slides on, and decided expletive it.. i am gonna use the g/f car while this sits in the garage and do my b16 obd0 swap when i get my tax money...
