Default ep3's and base model rsx's, camshaft defect?

Has anyone on here experienced or know the symptons of this? I was reading about how the camshafts were , I guess, poorly designed and they started getting ripped apart?

there have been a few cases on ephatch.com..... They may not be in the cams themselves but more or less the oil supply holes getting clogged?

Yea, I was posting on ephatch also. I just want to see how common this really is. An it seems to be very common with a small % of the US

Yep haven't heard about any problems with the K20A or the K20A2. Only seems to be with the K20A3. Also only seems to be with the first couple years as well. Originally it appeared to only be a problem with exhaust cam side but some people have been experienceing problems with wear on the intake side now as well.

I got a 05 with hardly 25k on it. But damn, it is pretty loud. I don't know if its because of the rockers vs my old d15b or what. I got it on a dvd-r I am trying to figure out a way to save it, so i can "youtube" it.

First i have heard about a newer one having the problem. Maybe its cause the newer onesw still don't have enough miles on them to start having the problems yet.

I have replaced about 4-5 cams, 2 complete cylinder heads, and 2 complete engines, caused by this. From what Honda told me some cams for, 2002, and 2003 for all K-engines(not all cams), are not heat treated properly, causing exactly what you have. If Skunk2 uses Honda cores to make their cams, then they will have the same issues. I have only seen wear on the exhaust cam, never the intake?? Defiantly a warranty issue!!!!!!</TD></TR></TABLE>

yes it should, but very hard to get the dealerships to do it, because of being so expensive

Mine is an 03 as well and i was worried when i got mine fixed cause i was almost done my 3 year bumper to bumper and the service manager said not to worry since it is covered by the 5 year powertrain warrenty.

I would assume that engine/tranny would be covered but maybe someone can elaborate.
