Checking spark strength
Check your spark plugs. OR better yet just replace them, it cheap.
Also you might want to change the cap and rotor. All normal maintanence.

check you local autoparts store for a spark tester. It has an adjustable screw that increases the length of the spark. You will plug this tool into the sparkplug wire and attach it to a ground.

You can just use an old spark plug. Lay it against the engine and crank it over. The spark should be a nice bright blue and make a snap noise. An orange spark may be a bit weak.
When I layed the current plug close to the chassis, I could hear the spark, but it was def more of an orange color. Can the fact that the chassis is painted affect that?

If you can hear it easily it's probably ok.
