rev limit too low
hey i'm new to this but i have a question for all the pros out there. i have a 94 coupe with a b16a1 and i have a problem the fuel cut off allways kicks in at 7500 on the stock tach and around 6800 on the aftermarket tach this is way after the engine warmed up i thought it might have been the fuel pump but i replaced it with another one and still have the same problem!!! can anyone help me?
ok i might have found out what is wrong but i need ur expert opinion guys!
the guy from whom i bought the engine said that he had a chip put in (does not know which one) for 30euros to raise the rev limit and make the vtec kick in early could that have messed things up for me?
and i have another question this is my first DOHC vtec i have had SOHC vtec and when the vtec kicked in with the sohc you really felt it but with this one there is only a slight pick up in rpms aroud 4800-5000 is that normal or should you really feel the difference?
and yeah the light on the ecu flashes 7x quick 2xlong with a 1xquick and 2 long

thats pretty cool...your check engine light is wired to give off codes the ecu throws...ive seen it done many a times.....your vtec should give a noticable push in power....but nothing rediculous....pretend your adding a 20 shot of nitrous when your vtec kicks in....thats what it should feel like...you are throwing codes though so get that checked out...idk which code that specific one is...im usually an obd2 guy....
