JDM P08 ECU throwing code 22, vtec pressure valve, how is that possible?
I am pretty sure this ecu does not look for the vtec oil pressure switch so why is it throwing a code for it?
The ONLY way I could imagine that possible is if it was chipped using a VTEC program..
I know the program for p28/p30/p72/p08 IS compatible with another, however if you don't have the hardware, it cant use the feature.. IE: IAB control in a p28.. Even though you use the chip, you can't use the feature because the hardware is not present..
Think of it like having AOL software and no modem..

yes the motor is a jdm d15b and i was told it doesn't have the pressure switch and the guy i bought it from said it was a virgin ecu
Unless its chipped to take out the VTEC pressure switch (which i believe only S300 does right now) your throwing the code due to low oil. Check your oil before something worse happens.
this is lshatchie still i was on my bro's comp this is my real name, anyway i checked my oil and its between the two dots, should i add more?
i know you can chip ECUs to not look for it but im positive it should not be looking for one even, stock.

The ECU could care less about engine oil pressure.. there is NO code for it, nor does it check it..
You might want to check that it's ACTUALLY a P06.. It don't sound like it, OR, You're reading the code wrong..

Do you have a VTP sensor on your Spool Solenoid assembly? My D15B did. Unless the previous owner removed it, it will be there.

Most OBD-1 VTEC ECUs look for adequate oil pressure in the head in order to activate VTEC.

uhh.... the pressure valve code tells that there isnt enough pressure to activate VTEC (55-63psi of oil). And what causes oil pressure to drop? thats low oil. Now if there is oil in the car and his still throwing the code it could be that the wiring is messed up. If its not then it could be the oil pump. Not alot of reasons to throw this code.
well i don't even have the pressure switch there's just a bolt in the hole so it's not even wired up, but my engine is running like crap, it seems to bog when i give it throttle
i don't know if this matters but this motor is in a crx and i have the rywire obd0-obd1 conversion kit, i read in one post you can ground the wire from the subharness and it will always think there is enough oil pressure, can anyone confirm this?
Your going to need to get your hands on that sensor and install and wire it up correctly or youll be in limp mode for a long time.

You have a serious fault or a dead ECU. What is the full part number on it, P08-000, or 010, 900, or 901?

well i thought if the check engine light came and and when you go to check it and it doesn't come on thats a bad ecu, but my check engine light isn't on anymore but when i jumper it the light is solid
it's P08-020
it's P08-020
Bad ECU problems are like people problems.. They both die many different ways..
It could
-no start
-run rough
-limp home mode (Run horrible and won't rev past 3k)
-no responce at all
There are tons of ways an ECU could fail..

ok, well my car starts. revs past 3k, it seems to run somewhat rough and throttle response isn't that great but i don't think the ecu is done. like it backfires once when shifting from 1st to 2nd soemtimes and i don't think vtec is even working, im stumped
i don't have a check engine light on anymore so i have no codes, but if i go to check for them and jumper the connector the light just stays on, is that normal
