Right now I am pretty broke until next friday and am just looking for simply mods right now. Is anything on this page worth while, I am considering the final mod but dont know the risks of doing it. well i tried to do this, when i was wait to get all the parts for my b18c swap, and the days for my little HX motor were actually numbered.

i ditched the cat/header, did the throttle heater line off, ditched the egr **** with a block off plate, ditched p/s, ditched a/c, and kicked the charcoal can out.

but the throttle body coolant line, youl prolly need a longer hose by like 8 or 9 inches( really rough guess) and you remove the line from the throttle to the iacv. and connect the line that did go into the throttle body to the IACV. but you may have to readjust your idle to lower, since youll be idling like you are always cold.

but yeah i could really only feel a difference when i took off the power steering. it felt smoother and peppier. plus i love the way it feel

Dyno tested in 1999, no power gains, just a messed up idle.

 

well if you were to dyno test it you would have to let the cool down for SEVERAL hours. i have had the mod done, and the IM is much cooler with it off. so doing hte tests "back-back" would be pointless

So I am getting mixed feelings, I am not the best at tunning would it be difficult for an average joe to adjust his idle? If you can tell me how to adjust it on the stock throttle body that would be great, I have tuned many carbs on dirt bikes but never a car.

 

Ive done this, for some reason, when i first did it like a year ago, it felt like a huge jump, but really to make your car more reliable, keep them on!! i just put my coolant lines back on, and absolutely NO diff. Its not a good mod to do, unless you have a hondata IM gasket

 

Several Hours huh, try 45-60 minutes for lunch while the fans are on, plus the fan for the car while on dyno.

Water temp has to be 170 degrees F before the ECU gets out of cold start mode, by that time everything is heatsoaked.

Also played with using a ball valve to adjust the flow, still no change in power output.

Made 25-30 pulls that day, some people still believe the bullshit that don't work.

Simple setup, D15B7 making 118 whp with just IHE, Sept 1999.


Now if you had a Mustang or a GM TPI, icing the intake helps.......not a Honda......
