Default Yes i have a brake question.

Well..
1. My axles are shitty
2. My front crossmember looks or seems to be fine, even though im not sure.
3. My rotors are worn to hell and back, yeah i know i need to replace them.
4. My master brake cylinder has a slight leak down the side of it, just a little.

Thing is when i hop in the car and push down the brake pedal, 5 times out of 10 it will make this noise like a dead whale, kinda like whoooooooomppp...almost like there rusty, it's hard to explain.

I drive the car all the time, so im wondering peoples logical advice on what to do or buy or what i can do to further find out this mystery. My car just earlier today made a popping noise of some sort when i hopped in it before even starting it!, and i could "feel" it in the brake pedal, a light pop, almost like my master brake cylinder is weak or defective possible?, opinions needed, thanks.

1. Get new axles

2. What do you think is wrong with the corss member that you mentioned it?

3. Get new rotors.

4. Get a new MC if you say it leaks, they are cheap.

1. No money

2. Nothing is wrong with the crossmember from the looks of it.

3. No money

4. No money

All together for a new MC, some blank rotors with pads, and two axles im lookin at about little over 200$, thats after both core returns on the axles and a cheap MC without a cup, not that it's a big deal.

Btw, I thought i mention the crossmember because i heard worn out endlink bushings can cause a popping sound?, correct me if im wrong, but i think it's probally my axles i guess.

1. Recycle some cans.

2. Take the x-member off and inspect it then.

3. Wash some cars.

4. Welcome to McDonald's may I take your order please?

When does the popping sound occur?

When you push the pedal all the way in does it go all the way to the floor? If so you need new MC. And even if you don't have money just think of it this way. Is your life worth a MC? If it isn't than don't worry about it and just drive the car when you die cause of no brakes you won't be upset. See it all works out. I hope you catch what I am truely saying.

Dude, you don't want to lose your brakes. Take it from me, I clipped a car and went out into an intersection. I still don't know how I missed them(Or they missed me). At least six cars had to either slam on the brakes or swerve. I got very lucky, but you can avoid this by getting the brakes repaired.

At least go to a junkyard and get some of the parts.
My parts list from when I did my brakes
MC $60
Rotors $26 each
pads were $25

PLEASE!!!!!! and don't say I sound like your mother.

By the way, this was 20 years ago.

lol thanks for the advice guys, but my pedal doesn't go to the floor, they actually work fine, the drums aren't blow in the back either yet even though the car is 17 years old being a 89 si.

What the whole thread was about is weird feelings or funny noises with the brake pedal in general. Like i said before, sometimes i feel this pop in the pedal when i press the brakes, almost like the spring in the MC is defective or the MC is going out possible?, but it still works fine.

I just had another thought a second ago, maybe my calipers are the "popping feeling" i feel when i press the brake pedal, could my calipers be done for their life?, they are stock.

Seriously just do what everyone else does. Start replacing things with something a little better than stock and be done with it. Brakes arent something that you want to wait til they go out to replace. Go to the junkyard and find a used in good condition integra MC and start there. Its better than stock and shortens your throw. If that doesnt work think about doing an EX brake upgrade. Go get some knuckles and calipers and start piecing together some bigger brakes. Cheap, your work is in vein just replacing to stock, you have something to brag about, and solves the problem!

You pay for shipping I'll send you my rotors that I have lying around. Seriuosly. They were fine when I removed them and have no need for them. I'd rather someone else live before you brake a rotor or whatever else could happen. I can't help you with the calipers or MC/BB. My old calipers need a rebuild themself and wouldn't put them on a car until the seals are replaced.

EDIT: And stop buying performance parts until you've figured out the safety stuff first.

$23 to ship.

To be honest though you could get brand new ones for roughly $50 from autozone. It's your call.
