Default OEM Offset

I recently bought a set of 1st G CRX Si alloys for my 93 Civic Si. I believe the OEM steelies on my Si had an offset of 40mm. I was told the CRX alloys have a 45mm offset and that these wheels would "widen my stance."

Now that I understand how offset is measured, IF the CRX alloys have 5mm MORE offset, then I really made the stance more narrow...by a total of 10mm per axle...right?

I've tried to find the OEM offset of both of these wheels but can't find anything. The more I've read, 45mm seems a little high to me. I'm pretty sure on the 40mm for the OEM steelies.

Does anyone know of a site that lists factory offset for both of these?

This may not sound like a really big deal, but I autox the car in stock class. I'm allowed to change the wheels, provided they are factory size (14x5) AND are within 1/4 inch of OEM offset. Spacers are allowed to stay within these measurements.

I really don't want to have a more narrow stance, even if it is legal. I'd like to get the wheel track increased within the rules allowances (1/2 inch total).

Help?

if your stock wheel is a 14x5 with a 40mm offset than your backspacing is a 4.58...
now if the si wheel is 14x5.5 with a 45mm offset than your new backspacing is
5.02...........hope this helps.......i don't know where that website is but i believe
nsxtasy does

Thanks, bro, but I saw that one last nite...plus several others. None of them listed offset, though.

I'm really not sure how else to find this. A dealer MAY have this info. But back that far...I dunno.

Thanks, though!!!

update on the search for offset...

I called the local Honda dealer today. He said Honda NEVER published offset in any FSMs. He said the only way to find offset was to contact someone in the aftermarket. The manufacturers take the OEM wheels and measure them when designing their new products.

I called a local, reputable shop. They listed my OEM wheels as 40mm. Amazingly, he didn't have a listing for a 1st Gen CRX.

I emailed Tire Rack. Within a few hours, I had a reply. My OEM offset is 40mm. The CRX Si offset is 42mm.

Now if I can just find an 8.35mm spacer...

Either have to go with a 5mm spacer and give up 2mm, or go with a 10mm spacer and be over by 1.65mm.

Thanks for the help, though guys!!!
