is it reliable to boost the rsx-s
im planning on buying the new rsx type s and i heard that those motors come wit a high compression but den i asked ppl and they say that because those motors r well built u can styl run a turbo on stock motor internals as long as the boost levels dont exxed 20 pounds or wutever does anybody know how those motors react to turbo set ups!
Whatever you do, do not run 20 pounds on stock internals. You will see parts of the motor Honda didn't design to be seen.
I have seen a couple loacl RSX-S' here running no more than 10 pounds, making 275 on an agressive KPro tune, with upgraded fuel and ignition systems on stock internals.
It is possible to make a boost'd K as reliable as an NA one, but you have to know what you are doing and what to modify on the engine to get it to that point.

GReddy has always made good kits. The original owner of the GST I had used a GReddy DSM kit, and it was a DD with about 10-11 lbs of boost on stock internals. Never had a problem with it.
I have also heard alot of good things about Rev Hard, Full Race, HKS, Turbonetics, TurboFab, and SpeedWerks kits.
Any FI setup can be a reliable DD setup if you know how to tune it properly. You have to know how to adjust boost pressures, timing and ignition curves, adjust fuel maps, and monitor the AFR.
A stock K20z1 I assume can handle maybe 8-10 lbs of boost on stock internals. It's just a rough guess, but my best one at that.

wut if i wana be running around 18-24 pounds on the k20 motor can u name a couple of most important engine internals i have to change in order to run that boost and styl keep some type of reliability and ye a question off topic wut has a higher comppression a b18c5 or the k20 motor !
Dude, just run 9-10 lbs tune it with Kpro on stock internals and youll be fine and it will still haul ***. 24lbs. is overkill.
As far as the compression question, search is your bestest friend in the whole wide world!!

02-04 the lower duration on the cams makes it a better choice for boost. Not to say the 05+ won't make high hp but 02-04 is going to make more power/lb of boost.
As far as want to change to run high boost, look at my sig. That what you need. LOL
And the A2 is extremely resiliant to boost, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. And 10 PSI on a T3 Super 50 is going to vary from 10PSI on a Gt40R. Power is a better rating for how much an A2 can handle. I know numerous people that run 300HP daily on stock internals. In fact there is one guy that pushed the a completely stock A2 to over 600 HP. He recently ran an 11.3
I told this story in anothe post but recently I had a customer come over for a leakdown test on a Base Model RSX. He was boosted for over 2 years on his A3 at almost 290 HP. His leakdown results were less than 2-3% in all four cylinders. Perfectly healthy motor.
