Default Why did (or didn't) you choose Honda for your bike?

I ask this under the assumption that most of you are on Honda-Tech because you have owned or own a modified Honda. That might be ignorance on my part but I don't look at H-T as the best forum in the world for Honda motorcycles.

With that said, I notice a lot of you own a car, and for your bike you have either a Honda, Gixxer, Yamaha or something else.

I was just wondering what made you choose the bike you did? Is it because of the price? Is one brand better than another?

The reason I ask is because I'm going to be purchasing my first bike (hopefully) in a few months here, and I was looking at Hondas just because I know they make great and reliable cars, and I'm partial to the brand. I know that other companies out there are great too, but for some reason I feel like Im taking less of a chance with a Honda.

I chose my bike because it was there and a decent price.

I'll either go with honda as my next bike due to the abundance of web resources or a k6 gixxer because of the looks. i ride only on the streets, so on the topic of performance, they're the same to me.

yeah totally bought my current bike because i got a good deal

my first two bikes were yamaha.
decision was all based on aesthetics.
i love the way the first and second generation r6 look.

i rode the 04 600RR and i love it.
it handles great in the canyons.

I bought both my bikes because they were Hondas. I'm pretty brand loyal to Honda. When i got my F4i, it was the perfect bike for me and i couldn't have imagined riding anything else. Now i ride an RC51 and i can't imagine riding anything else (in terms of brands).
I chose Honda because I trust their build quality and reliability. I really prefer Honda's styling. I feel like now they're becoming too conservative though. I want bikes like the NS750 and RC45 to be made again.

My first bike was an '00 Suzuki GSF600. I bought it because I was a beginner, and it had an upright body position. I thought a 250 would have been too small for me (I'm a fat ***), and plus I really liked the Honda 599, and this bike looked close to it.

I then got my 600rr, and I bought this bike in terms of keeping for a long time. In my mind I was sticking to Hondas. I looked at F3's for a bit, and came within hours of buying an '05 F4i, until the 600rr fell into my lap. I wouldn't have it any other way, I <3 this bike.

i like naked bikes and streetfighters and none of the hondas appealed to me. the 919 is half decent but ill stick with my suzukis. i think honda makes the most quality bikes out there but when it comes for straight line speed and all around performance u cant beat a suzuki.

Bought the gsxr becuase it was there and liked the color scheme, bought the yamaha becuase the price was amazing.

After I sell them both ( they are both for sale ) I will buy a 03-05 R6 track bike. I've rode my buddies 600rr, my gsxr 600, my R6, and my buddies kawi 636 and the R6 lays down the best and feels the smoothest around corners. I woulnd't say suzuki owns striaght line either, My suzuki pulls hard, but the R6 is just as powerful till about 12 grand, then at around 12 grand it pulls harder then any 600 i've rode.

i got my gixxer because it was a deal i couldnt pass up. plus for 05 it was the second most powerful, had the most torque, and comes with a factory steering damper i also weigh 250 lbs so the power and torque was a big issue. my first bike was a 929rr and i loved it but i dropped it got scared and sold it. i still miss that bike

Can't go wrong with an 82 Yamaha 400 for 200 bucks.

My first bike was a scooter - Honda doesn't make anything that will touch a Zuma.

My second bike was a new 2004 SV650 - Honda's 599 sucks and costs $7K (paid $5K for my SV).

My third bike was a new 2005 Raven R6 - was the cheapest 600 ($8400 OTD vs $9K+ for the 600RR) and Honda didn't make anything nearly as sexy.

I flirted with an F4i and an RR before finally picking up my Ducati on a whim. I would love to own a Honda, and my next bike will probably be a VFR. I haven't avoided Hondas for any particular reason, but there was always something better to buy. The VFR is their only bike with no real competition.

i was looking long and hard for a 636, and found my F4i for a good price. thing is, the more i ride the thing, the more i love it. granted, a lot of it is just falling in love with the sport itself, but i'm very happy with my bike.

while i don't think the F4i is the best starter bike, i will say that honda bikes are great. reliable, fun, and well, they're hondas.

so far i'm 2/2. i had a F2 to start, and then got the F4i. i'm probably going to stick with honda until i have enough money/disposable time to buy/deal with an aprilia

I personally don't like Honda's cars or 80% of their bikes. The cbr600rr looks to be a good bike this year and the Valkyrie was awesome when it debuted, but the majority of them were not the fastest, the best handling, etc...in my opinion. Sure, there's ones that will be forever remembered as a really well developed machine, like the RC30's and 45's but the only Honda that I would ever own from the last 10 years is the RC51.

I mean, I wanted a twin and face it, for being as old as it is without a redesign, it's one of the best choices out there. The price is great, the performance is great, and it's unique. If it wasn't for the RC51, I'd be rocking an R1 right now. The r6 was an amazing machine and I know I should have kept it for a track bike, but at the time that I traded it in, the R1 was basically like the R6 on steroids. It had the same small profile and lightness about it, just with a massive engine in it. But I wanted a twin, so I got the RC instead.

Got a good deal on my 900. Stayed with a honda cause later on i found a great honda mechanic. Wanted 1000RR cause of all the rave reviews i heard 'bout it and the two pipes under the tail gives the bike more symmetry. Bought Repsol cause it was good deal the same price as a regular 1krr

I got a 98' Honda VFR becuase it is known for it's reliability. It is comfy as hell, sounds great, and is unique. Like someone said earlier, it has no real direct competitors... I also didn't want a cookie cutter sportbike. Boring.

I absolutely loved my F4i.

I've ridden my buddies 05 600RR and it was amazing, too...I wouldn't mind having one if they were so common

The F4i is a great bike that I forgot to mention. For what most people use their sportbikes for (riding to and from college classes, occasional wheelies, occasional spirited riding, occasional track use), the F4i is the best choice by far. It's just as quick as a 600RR, and wastes street-biased sportbikes like the YZF-600R.

I want an all-white F4i in the worst way.

Just like some dude up above.

Started on an F2, just got an F4i. They were both good deals and the type of bike I was looking for....no particular reason for going with a Honda vs. another brand.

The Hondas were in the right place at the right time I guess.

my dad and uncle have gone through 4 vfrs between them and there really great bikes, but they do have competitors. if u can get ur hands on some older bike mags, they compared the vfr to the truimph sprint and the sprint get better ratings.

Because it looked nice.
All the other 600's were so similar at the time that was my deciding factor. The Kawi zx6r was the only bike with a clear advantage at the time with its inverted forks and radial brakes, but it was the first year kawi made a real 600 and I didnt want to gamble on my first new bike. The Kawi ended up being a fantastic bike but Im still happy with my 600rr.
