ITR diff in GSR Transmission
I`m having a problem installing a ITR lsd in my GSR transmission.
When I fully seat the differential in the clutch housing side of the case, it does not turn!?! It rubs against the case when I try to turn it and there is still a lot of clearance left. <refer to pictures for clarification>

For ***** and giggles I put the original differential in the case and it turns fine. I should also note that I am using the newer updated one piece diff bearings on the ITR LSD. The old GSR diff has the older style roller bearing with outer race.
My questions are: Do I have to shave material off the clutch housing side of the case around the differential to get this to fit? I have searched and read that this is supposed to be a drop in swap.
Do I have to use the older 2 piece style differential bearings with the ITR LSD? I am a honda technician and I bought the newer updated one piece bearings for a hydro B-series trans.

Show a picture of the bottom bearing. Was it installed backwards (shield inwards)?
It looks like you dinged the shield on the top bearing in the picture.

You have the wrong bearings. I am guessing you got the LSD used right? What tranny was the prior owner using it in? The bearings that you need for it are 1.5mm wider than the ones most likely mounted on there now. See the link below for an explanation. Read through all the posts and you will see the differences.

if there is alot of clearance between the clutch housing and diff i doubt its the shim or bearing, something is preventing the diff from seating all the way. This problem is you have to shave off the webing on the inside of the clutch housing where the differential sits, you can knock them with a hammer- very soft aluminum material or have them cut for a cleaner job. The webings are rubbing against the side casing of the diff.
Its one or both of two issues. Either he has the wrong bearings and the VSS gear is touching the tranny case or the ring gear is touching the fins of the tranny case. It could be both issues. I know this because I am installing an ITR diff into a Y21 and I had clearance issues with the VSS gear hitting the case. I swapped pver to the ITR bearing that were 1.5mm thicker and the VSS doesnt rub anymore.
