sticky lifters?
When I put my d15b into my car is was so quiet people commented on it.
Then my radiator popped its seal on the top.
I had to drive a mile or so while the temp creeped to the top of the gauge.
Engine runs fine cranks easy, passes emmisions, does not lose oil or water. It has been fine for the almost 2 years since it happened....
But since then its sound has been slightly reminiscent of a Volvo......!!!!!!
Still quiet for most cars but a little too much like a sewing machine for a Honda.
I was told this could be the lifters sticking, if so will I have to live with it or can it be fixed w/o an overhaul?
Or is it something else?

you dont have lifters you have rocker arms..maybe its just the injectors? or maybe its the normal honda valve tap tap tap,,does it go away when it warms up? maybe you just need a valve adjustment, pretty simple with the helms manual
you just need a valve adjustment, i just put my jdm motor in and it is quiet i have a h22 prelude that needs a valve adjustment, honda reccomends a valve adjustment every 15 k so it may be time
Super easy. I did it for the 1st time under supervision, lol.
All you do is use a set of feeler guages for the intake and exhaust valves, (diff sizes) and a valve adjustment tool. It allows you to open and close the locking nut in any position you want while adjusting the valve. Make the feeler guage so it's difficult to slide, but still will, and tighten the nut down. repeat 15 more times...

what can I expect (other than quietness) from the valve adjustment?

nothing.....but reliability, and maybe your noise issue is your injectors cycling.
I thought my valves were going to **** untilll I put my ear right by the injectors, and wallah..

just do it yourself. You don't NEED the valve adjustment tool all you need is a 12mm box wrench and a screw driver. I have valve adjustment tools for my supra as well as the two different ones for my honda's its a little easier but not much. The exhaust side is .008 in. on the close side of spec and intake side will be .007in. I just did a valve adjustment on my girlfriends turbo d15 and it only took about 15mins. to actually adjust the valves and maybe 30mins. all togther gaskets were old so I cleaned the valve cover and changed the gaskets too.
