winter project on a budget...need advice
Ok i got a personal loan from my bank for $6,000.
i plan on doing an lsvtec build over the winter and swapping it into my ek hatch
right now i have a b18b block, a b16a head, and a itr tranny. got an lsvtec gasket set too
i had orignally wanted to go all out and build the motor for turbo, but with 6k to spend i figured it would be better to go all motor so that i can upgrade other things like the suspension and fuel system.
I was thinking i could do an all motor build and then next winter get a turbo, butn decided against that because i dont want the car to run like **** until i can afford a good turbo.
so basically im looking for some advice on how to build a 300whp lsvtec without wasting any money. im looking at buying the tein suspension package on kteller.com wich costs $950 shipped, and then i figured sending the block and possibly the head out to get bored and honed would cost me around another 1k.
so thats 2k gone right off the bat wich leaves me with 4k to spend on the motor ide like to get the carbon fiber hatch and possibly a nice cf hood too but only after my motor is built.
so what i need advice on is the best way to go with about 3-4k to spend if im looking for 300whp. like i said i just dont want to waste any money at all on things that i dont need.
this is what i was thinking
for the block...
bored/sleeved (not sure the measurements but am familiar with .020 over) any recomendations on a better bore?
forged pistons
rings
rods
for the head..
camshafts
valves/springs retainers
studs
fuel system....
good feul rail
big injectors
good fuel pump (possibly walbro)
i already have a skunk2 dual exaust
and for tuning i planned on getting hondata
i was going to look into buying some used stuff from people online to fit everything into my budget.
can i get 300whp with this setup? and if not.... then will this setup be reliable enough/strong enough for me to add nitrous later on?
ive never really done a good build before that involved boring out the block or anything, ive worked on my brother in laws usdm gsr and all we did was the head and itr pistons. i work at an acura dealership and have people to help me out if i need it but no one there really knows much about building an lsvtec.
help is apreciated or if anyone has aim and can talk to me on there that would be cool too.
by the way, this is not really going to be a daily driver, i will drive it sometimes back and forth to work but i have another civic that will be my daily driver. i want to keep this car mint and take it to the track sometimes. and maybe next winter build it up even more

It's going to cost a great deal more than 3-4k, or even 6k to get remotely close to 300 whp all motor from a b-series motor.

More attainable on your budget.
More attainable on your budget.
you could buy a turbo kit/sleeves/pistons ,rods. and the rest of parts to get you up and running and 350+ whp for like $4500 and still do your susp.
If your looking for "300 whp" its going to take a turbo (price range)

thats what ive been thinking. What do you think if i leave the block at stock bore and just get a jg blockguard? Then get low compression pistons, good rods and possibly crank. Strong enough to handle a decent amount of boost or am i just better off spending some money on a good bore and sleeve first?
