Well tonight, i did it again. I missed 4th gear and tried to jam it back and accidently stuck it into 2nd. Tach flew to 9K+. After that, on the freeway i hear this weird metal tinging sound. Didn't sound like my valves tho, it came from the driver side lower area (timing belt/water pump area) and it didnt get louder with the RPM. In fact, it was very sparatic. It came and went. So i went home, let it idle while i was trying to listen to any abnormal sounds. I couldn't hear anything out of the ordinary. To double check, i did a compression test, and my numbers were still good (180,170,180 and 180). After that, i thought maybe i spun a bearing or something, so i drained my oil and didn't see any metal specs. So I filled her back up with oil, and gave her another test drive. I didn't hear any abnormal sounds, but in 2nd gear at partial throttle, the car felt like it was bogging out.
I'm guessing that might not have to do with the overrevving though, could be a tune issue.
Anyways, my motor specs are:
stock LS motor w/ 177k miles
new timing belt and water pump replaced less than 5k miles ago
typical t3/t4 turbo kit blah blah.
So what do u guys think? Is there anything else i should check for?
Cliffnotes:
misshifted, hit 9k in my LS. Scared that something is wrong!

learn how to shift smoothly, don't jam it into gear, use your fingertips for 3 to 4. a leak down test is gonna be your best bet. i've seen a few other posts where people did this and thought they were ok until a week later they drop a valve and wreck their motor.

sorry, i don't have any links. if you search around you'll be able to find them. just do a leak down test and find out if something is wrong or not.

Oh yea, i forgot to mention, after i did the over-rev incident. I took out my plugs, and my 1st cyl plug was white, and the rest were greyish white. I think i might've leaned out my 1st cylinder. I also shined a flashlight through each cylinder, and i saw oil on top of each of the pistons. Any idea if thats normal? It wasnt an insane amount of oil, but i could clearly see oil on top of each piston. my compression #s were 180,170,180,180 on a 177K mile stock LS. I'm going to do a leak down on it later today, and i'll post up my results
