Default Flywheel/Clutch combination ?

have saved enough to get me a lighter fly and aftermarket clutch
now i think im set on a clutch

'exedy'

but im still undecided as far as a flywheel to get, i was thinking either TODA's fly or an ITR flywheel, anyone running the toda fly compared to their stock R fly?

will the Toda be a little too light? how will my trq down low be like? if not either, whats another good fly to go along with the exedy clutch?

thanks in advance

im planning on doing both this year (more so visiting the strip)

im also considering machining down the gs-r fly to itr weight, or near it

what would be the best choice? toda:itr:gsr/machined: ? im really clueless as to what to zone in on

at first i was set on either the itr fly or machining the gsr to itr weight (what 13/14lbs?) then i thought to myself will there even be a difference? why not go with toda? oh the choices.

Would you recommend something different for each?

for drag itr is more then enough ! sometimes getting a way to lighter fly wheel isnt that great . you rev way to quicker

you'd want a heavy one for drag, because then you'll need less revs to take off and also less chance to bog down at the start. if u on circuit racing, then get a light one, so u get to VTEC range quicker.

Well I'll be using a 6.7lb flywheel for both Drag and Road racing , although I use slicks and am able to rev pretty high to start

ya thats what i was thinking, but didnt know if the it would how much lower than the itr's weight i could go

so with that being said, should i go for an itr fly? or lighten the gs-r to 14lbs? any pros and cons to machining the stock fly down?

TIA

Don't look at just weight of a flywheel, check to see where the weight (energy) is concentrated. The TODA flywheel has most of its weight in the center so it's probably the best for a street/race combo.

i have the toda flywheel in my b16 and it revs perfectly...seems to pull harder too. i really didn't loose any off the line torque that i could tell, but if you do you'll make up the power pretty quick w/ how fast it revs. toda flywheel

How are lightweight flywheels for daily driving (stop and go, take offs from a complete stop, etc.)? I've been considering the itr, toda, and fidanza for my car. Thanks.

Spoon flywheel is the lightest (no holes ) flywheel. Spoon is better over Toda cuz Toda is too light and it loses a bit of balance off the crankshaft. Especially go uphill you will definitely feel the car less torque at a certain speed.

sweet

AJ, is the toda peice not well balanced (weight) ? my friend has the comptech fly (6.5lbs) and i mentally documented (lol) the trq before and after, and i for one didnt notice any difference

edit: also in the past i have heard of starter grinding, if memory serves correct it was also with the toda fly? knowing how i have had my starter rebuilt all i need now is grinding, lol.......

oh the choices!

hybrider: who has since been mighty tempted to buy an ITR peice he found for 150 bucks
