Default Hood bolt stripped out

Simple question: Recently had my hood shaved/painted and I one of the bolts stripped out the hole in the hood so the hood is currently fastened with 3 bolts. For the 4th bolt, would I just re-tap the hole/run a larger bolt? What would be the best way to remedy the situation?

Thanks in advance! (Yeah, my car's in storage for a year while I'm at school )

there are different kinds of stipped. you may be able to clean up the threads with a tap and run the same size bolt, which would be the easiest and cheapest option. technically you could move up to a bigger bolt but then you would have to drill and tap and use two sockets to take your hood off.

I would like to know the best method also as I stripped one of the bolts trying to do the spacer 'trick.'

I noticed now that my hood is only fastened by 3 bolts it squeeks alot (not noticeable with music though) when I go over bumps and stuff..
