Default 4 speed

i have a 89 civic hatchback si, the gear shifter has a 4 speed ball on it i have swapped to a different motor..but i have a five speed, is there any way to tell where this transmission came from because i know that this car came with a 4 speed though i thought that the si came with a 5 speed

If your transmission is a 5-speed, then its either gonna be a dx or si trans; give some rpm to speed figures so we can figure it out. If its a 4-speed tranny, then it came from the civic STD.

STD' civic,,nothing else has a 4spd manual..maybe you should run a carfax to make sure you really have an "SI" http://www.carfax.com

Really anything dx was a 4 spd? You sir are wrong as the dx was a 5 speed. Next time if you wanna flash your knowledge at least know what the expletive your talking about before doing so. "unless you wanna get real technical" wtf is this supposed to mean? How can you get real technical if you dont know ****? STD's were 4 spd, DX and si's were 5 spd like i originally said.
