Default Valve lash after comp cams stage 1.

i just installed a zex/comp cams stg2 cam for the d16y8 in my car(d16y8) i have been playing with the valve lash all day.. i had crazy clacking at first, tighten the lash up to 0.008 on the intake and 0.010 on the exhaust side.. still had clacking..

so i set the intak to 0.006 and put he exhaust side on 0.008, no the clacking is gone (very little) car runs great but when its been about 10 minutes past fully warmed up.. it bogs like its dying if i step on it, till about 3k rpm then it gets its power back.. any suggestions?.. i been messing with the valves all day.. (when it was clacking it didnt bog)... wtf?.. help please

i have the same cam in a y7-z6 mini-me. comp says to set lash to stock .007 int. and .009 exh. i did that and mine was a little noisy so i went .006 int. and .008 exh. and all was cool. what might be going on with you is you set your lash to loose and when it started clacking you readjusted tighter. the thing is the lash has to be set when the engine is COLD as in sitting overnight cold.let it sit overnight and readjust and you should be good

thanx man i will try that in the morning, i did set my lash with the engine warm-hot.. BUT would that explain the sputtering after the engine gets warm? almost like mini backfiring at 1,2,3k rpm then it smooths out and gets power back

i will thanx for the info guys, one last question.. i want to be as accurate as i can with the feeler gauges.. now i know to set it so there is a bit of drag.. but the drag changes if i lay the feeler flat against the valve stem, or if i just pass is through straight,(not flat becausde of angle) i know it sounds stupid, but which is the most accurate way to pass the feeler through ?..im a diy newb. but im very capable of learning.. so just want to perfect the feeler process

I have the same cam and I think I set my lash to stock specifications. It was a little chattery but I figured that was b/c the cam was more aggressive.
