anybody turbo a 200k mile motor before?
just as the title asks. im asking cause i have a 211k mile da and i am already about to buy a new motor and transmission. im just wondering if has ahd any success with a stock ls motor and boosted it with 200k miles, cause i want to have some fun with this car before winter gets here, and the new motor.

Check the motors compression.. if the numbers are decent have at it (since you have a back up on the way)

ok. and what is good compression across the cylinders? and does anybody have any good experiences with boosting at that many miles?
I boosted a d16y8 with 166k but compression was decent (160 accross the board).. Anything 135 and up and on the cylinders and you SHOULD be ok,

Recently boosted a 91 b16a1 engine, 10psi with a greedy turbokit(customer)
tuned w hondata s200 and still going strong..
oh did I mentioned that the engine has 216.000k`s??

ok i guess i will go ahead and boost it as long as the compression is good across the board. also what is some whp numbers that some of these high milage cars have?
I boosted my buddies D15. Had about 185k on it. @ 210 the original T belt broke and when we put another head on, everything looked great. Car still runs like a champ NA with solid compression #s across.

175whp
135trq
10lbs boost
145 across the board
could use a few better flowing parts and a 3 inch but its still fun
going bigger this spring i am hopein 25+lbs boost with vitaras?? who knows

my brothers heavily boosted maxima has 200k on it.
i boosted a d16 with 150,000 on it, ran 12 psi through it, and its still fine. sitting in my garage, as my backup now (have a built-bottom-end in now)..
tune it well, no detonation, and it'll last.

last year i boosted a 200k mile ls motor. compression was like 185-190 when i started boosting. after like 25-30k miles the compression was in the high 160's but still even. this motor went through so much, from a/f in the 13s in boost to a broken thermostat and driving home an hour and a half on almost completely hot.
right now ive ggot a cyllinder with compression in the 115 range and all others are 180 like they should be. the car is running stronger now than ever, and this motor only has like 10-12k on it.

Yeah, I had a few of those...As someone mentioned, as long as its not an oil burner and compression and leakdown are good, you should be a-ok..

i went turbo with ~200k on my z6 bottom end and ~180k on the head
the motor is now at ~240k on the block and has had 10psi since day one. it burns a **** load of oil (1.5 qts a week)

We boosted 9-10 psi on a customer's LS with 157k on it
dyno is here

He beat on it for a year and then we put on a Neukin mani/three inch exhast/DP & three bar map sensor and ran 14-15 psi for about another year
Last time he was in he had 195K on it... he finally blew a hg at this point
reason being his wastgate vac line came of and overboosted to 25 psi
we pulled the head off and amazingly enough after boosting/beating on it for 40,000 miles or so the only damage was the headgasket
the pistons looked good
the head looked good
the rod bearings looked good
the valves looked good
so we just replaced (piston rings & rod bearings for piece of mind)
and new headgasket and head studs
& we also went ahead and ground the exhuast valve seats & lapped them in
runs great now
