Troubleshooting Power Steering problem

My power steering in my 87 Accord has gotten worse and worse eventhough I keep adding fluid to it. Now it is totally gone. It looks like it has a leak in 2 places.
First place: The filler bottle is almost empty and has puddle of power steering fluid sitting in the indentation of the red cap (how does that happen).
Second place: The line from the pump to back behind the engine seems to have a leek halfway down the line where there is a metal cupling with a foam or rubber boot over it. At this cupling there is a lot of fluid pooled up.
I figure I need to replace the line and the bottle. I think I can handle replacing the bottle, but how difficult is it to replace the line. It goes back behind the engine and connects to some plaform that I cant see very well, how do i disconnect that part, is that difficult? Also, the color of the fluid is dark brown, is this a cause for concern?
Thanks
