buddy of mine owns a 93 del sol vtec. he didnt have any problem getting them to fit, but when he put the stock speaker covers on, the speaker would rattle against it, so he just left the covers off with plans to use a dremel to shave them down, but hes never gotten around to it.

I just replaced mine with some Infinity components ... The speaker cover in the doors wouldn't accept the depth of the none factory speakers. I just removed the side and back piece (used a hack saw) leaving the round portion and mounted them back in the doors ... no rattles no troubles, sounding great ..

Most Honda's have shallow doors, so a lot of aftermarket speakers will not fit depth wise because of the larger magnet, spider etc... You can either convert to 5 1/4" as most of them will fit, or shave the stock speaker grilles to get them to clear. Some coaxial speakers will fit. Most, if not all separate components will not without some shaving.

you could have just taken out the white plastic backing for the speaker and drilled it straight against the door. gives u plenty of room.

i bought some kenwood 6.5's and they fit perfectly. no cutting or nothing. i just bolted them on and they were good to go. try moving it around in the hole. you might be able to make it work

This is what I plan on doing, but maybe not with type-r's. But yeah 6.5 in speakers will fit in the front, just do that, or trim up the basket and fit everything to retain the covers.

i bet you've been dying to prove someone wrong for years... you replied to the 2nd out of 9 posts before yours and had nothing to contribute to the topic, take your del sol vtec knowledge and shove it. GL to the OP Infinity for TMFW

yea i put some memphis's in my doors and had to cut out the back of the speaker bracket but just make sure you have 6.5 inch speakers and not the oversized or 6.75 then you'll probably have to cut and mdf ring and mount them in that way, is what we did with my buddies s2k

I know this an old thread. Just did the diy dstuning. My problem is the speaker falls out backward. So what keeps it it place.
