Default el gauges VS 92-93

okay, today i got a JDM cluster. its the 92-93 style, or, at least, not like USDM si and VTEC gauges. their the standard backlit ones.

Im trying to figure out why the SI's and VTEC are so different, or, more yet, how they are different.

Point being, I'd love to have the SI and VTEC look, but, im on a different gauge set, and stuck with what i've got because i can never find a SI cluster for sale.

What im wondering is, are there bulbs I can place in the back to light up my cluster that are REALLY bright? Advanced auto said to get Sylvania 74's which, are actually a little too small for my cluster.. I dont even know what bulbs to buy now. Im sure I can get some online, that'd probably what I'll do.

Oh, and theres one problem about my gauges i cant figure out. I bought a swaped car. It was an auto SI, now its a manual h22a. the guy i got it from also swapped the clusters from SI to the 92-93 manual cluster. When you go to adjust the brightness like all the other lights in the car, it wont go on the highest, brightest setting. it will only go up to the setting thats highest on the "dimmer".. right before absolute brightest.. if that makes any sence.. so, say, on your car, when you feel a "click" to brightest possible, the brightest mine can go is right below that click..

any ideas on that?

No ideas on that but I do know that the Si and Vtec model clusters have a kind of neon bulb behind them. Not neon like color but neon like a completely different bulb than the others. It's super bright white and runs on a different voltage than the rest of the car and has a couple of transformers that go along with it. At least mine does/did before I changed it. Weird stuff man.

Im not trying to wire in a el cluster.

My car originally had a el cluster, it was an auto 96 si, the guy who had it "downgraded" to 93 si cluster. im not sure if he changed the harness, if he NEEDED to change it to get it to work, he would of, but if he didnt need to buy a new harness, then i should already have the 96 el in there.

Im just saying, about my dimming, why would i not be able to get the brightest possible?

i'm pretty sure the click only adjusts the gas/temp gauge and MAYBE the clock... i'll figure it out when i leave in a minute, but i'm pretty sure the speedo/tach, don't have anything brighter after the click
