Default individual throttle bodies

has anybody seen an individual throttle body setup for the d series? Purely currious. I'm contemplating 4 throttle bodies and a sheet metal manifold with bellmouths mounted internaly. Lust trying to do some homework.

There aren't any for the D-Series, and even with them, you won't see barely anything on the hp scale, unless you ported the head and increased the compression of the engine. The stock intake flows more than enough for the stock internals/head.

there are some for the d16 but were all talking about the d17. individual throttle bodies wont do anything unless you have ALOT of supporting mods. ITB's should be the LAST n/a mod that anyone does. and with the money spent on it to reach around 150-170WHP on a N/A d17 motor, you could have a boosted motor OR maybe even a boosted K series with the money spent on R&D.

That's a custom-made one. There aren't any, to my knowledge, that are manufactured in high quantities.

Honda-Tuning did an article on a d17 turbo. They used an intake manifold from a D16 and made a flange out of aluminum to bolt to the head. I would imagine you could do the same for the D17. They also did an article on ITB's on a D16 and it made an additional 17 or so hp with just an I/H/E (intake being the ITB's). Vtec motors love to breathe, so anything to improve air flow should help. Start here for ideas: http://www.homemadeturbo.com/t....html

wow that crx d15 is amazing! I might play with this idea more in the future but for now I have some other things to mess with. Thanks for the answers everyone.

Joe

This post is a little confusing to me, but if you're saying that an EM2 with a trubo'd D17 can run 10's or even 11's, you're wrong. A completly striped EM2, turbo'd at 300whp might run high 11's.

I agree w/ TN90accord. Those D17's were not made for any high performance application. I have heard that their bottom ends give out at about 200. They were simply made for economy. But everyone on this forum knows what that means... when everyone expects nothing from a Honda, what happens? the Honda stands up and surprises them. Good Luck.

yeah its in that link, that thing is nuts. I might play with it more some time in the future but I dont do drag, ever. so a gutted turboed 12 sec civic would be sort of a waste for me. Everythign os on hold right now cause I might get a new Fit and I dont want to tune the Civic anymore untill I know for sure i am keeping it.

I saw it on homemadeturbo.com. Some guy used 2001 gsxr itb for his b16 motor. He spent about less then $400 bucks. You guys should check it out.

Don't do it unless you guys have an extra TB laying around somewhere!!!

someone in my engine class was talking to me about how he's seen custom made ITB's from people takng the throttle-bodies off bikes, and fabricating ITB's from those.

personally ive never seen it done, but i guess anything is possible with the right amount of $$$

itb on a d16, you're not gonna feel much...

just built a home made turbo then it'll go over 170whp.

did mine under $600 bucks...hehe
