Need help installing new head unit in 5th gen Prelude
I just bought a new kenwood cd player to replace my 5th gen prelude stock cd player. I was told by an installer who has the exact same car as mine that I am going to have a lot of problems changing out the radios. He wants to charge me $130 just to install the new head unit because he says he has to rewire the speakers because of the factory amps and acoustic feedback system. Can somebody fill me in on this or point me in the direction of a good Prelude audio site? Thanks

That installer is full of B.S. I'm a mobile electronics installer and all you have to do is get a kit and a harness. If you go to Circuit City the model numbers are AMI HONK828 and a MET 801720. Pop the trim off around the radio and you will see 4 screws holding it in. Wire up your harness, plug it in and your done. If you have a 2000 prelude, the wiring harness might be the MET 801721 instead of the MET 801720.

I'm positive that that system doesn't have to be rewired. My girl has this car and all I used was a harness. Hers is a 98.
