Cracked header suggestions.... please input ur 2 cents
ok so i have a 99 DX with a stock header. The thing is that the header had a small hairline fracture which eventually turned into a crack. I've tried JB weld which i realized melts right off. And i've also tried a manifold repair paste that i got from auto zone. The manifold repair paste doesn't melt and has a good hold, but only for about a day. Then the crack breaks through the repair. I was thinking about using cloth exhaust wrap to wrap the crack but cant seem to find any anywhere. the only wraps that i've been able to find are steel wire mesh wraps that auto zone carries. Will those work on my header? the crack makes ticking sounds when i drive and i just want to stop the noise. can it be crap welded? I know you shouldnt weld cast but can i do it just to fill it in?
In the mean time i've also been looking to find another stock DX header with no luck.
so till then what should i do? any input appreciated.

Try harder to find a stock header or just buy a aftermarket header, if you are low on funds then just go on ebay and buy a cheap header on there
i would've bought a greddy header from my friend but the thing is...
the cat is on the header and the 99 civic dx has two o2 sensors (aftermarket headers usually have one and i dont want to deal with a check engine light)
and i like my car stock. I dont race or anything. I love the comfort and quietness of my car. But i HATE
the ticking sound the crack is making. Anywho i just want a temporary fix until i can get my hands on a 96-00 civic DX header.

look on ebay... the headers there arent expensive and without a full exhaust system or at least a tip sound wont change... and eletrical tape fixes check engine lights ;-)
but you can prob find one with 2 o2 sensors

Take it to a muffler shop and have weld that bitch shut.
If you're looking for an inexpensive way out, there it is. Other than that, those DX headers are very expensive because they have the cat attached. Research Carsound by magnaflow, they have a replacement but don't know how much. I'm sure it's cheaper than OEM though...

Yea, exhaust work on the actual pipes, which aren't cast, iseasy. The shop won't be able to fix cast headers.Just find a used one for like 30 bucks, and swap it.
