Default few ?'s about headlights

hey yall,

Well I made this post because I want to change the headlights (bulbs) on my 97 Accord..I've decided I dont want to get an HID kit, but still am confused about what bulbs I should get? I have poor night vision so anything thats brighter and longer distance would be nice..Are Hella or PIAA good choices? Also whats the difference between bulbs that offer both high/low beams, is it better to get separate bulbs for each beam? Thanks for any info..Later

the high beam do not have a glare shield vs. the low beam, it's a just a coating of silver paint, that's all.

silverstar is one of the best light you can get, they don't last very long but they are bright.

most of the aftermarket blub carries a higher wattage rating, i think the stock 9006 low beam are rated around 55watt, if you see somthing with 120watt then you know you will start an engine fire soon enough.

i suggest to do a 9005 conversion on your car. that means using a 9005 bulb (which is the high beam bulb) in place of the regular 9006 bulb. 9005 is rated at 65watts while the 9005 is only rated at 55watts.

do not get anything with a coating on the bulb as it will actually decrease light output. watch out for fake advertising saying 100w output. typically they are just yanking your chain.

if you do go aftermarket i suggest piaa, raybrig, hella but be prepared to pay. try the 9005 first. search on here on how to convert. it's just as simple as removing a small tab on the base of the 9005 bulb to fit.

have fun!

Those hi/low beam ones wont work as they are 9004's. 9004's don't fit on this car and the car is not wired to use hi and low beam in the same bulb. My truck takes 9004's and they have the same bulb for hi low beam but you can't put it in a vehicle that isn't made for it. Just like I can't put the bulbs in my Honda in my truck. For the Honda it uses seperate bulbs for hi and low beams. The low beams are 9006 and the highs are 9005. Like said by others there is a popular conversion to cut the 9005 bulb to fit in the 9006 socket and it's a lot brighter. I did it with a Eurolite Fusion bulb and am pretty happy. I have previously tried lots of other bulbs and either these or the Crystals are the ones I've been happiest with as I like some color and these arn't too blue but have some blue to them. I used some Farenheits that were great also but only slightly wighter than stock and no color to them. They were brighter though. I used the Crystals and then the Fusions trying to get a little more color and I couldn't tell a differnce. I also tried the Eurolite Super Plasma's and they didn't have a lot of color either but were a lot brighter so I liked them and the high beams lasted over 2 years but the low beams burnt out every 2 months and I tried multiple sets. I gave up on those but kept the high beams. When they burnout I bought another set and right off the bat I noticed the purple on the blub itself wasn't the same looking. I put it in and it was slightly whiter than stock but still some yellow not pure white like the old ones. It also didn't seem anywhere near as bright. I tried Nokya's too and they were 100watt/120watt and they looked great and were really blue but I couldn't see **** on the road especially in rain so I took them back. It was hard to see in normal light and all I could really see was where my fog lights shined. I put those in my truck and if I was to use them it'd be on a car I want to look good not want preformance as I couldn't see well with them but they looked awesome.

I'd go with Eurolite Crystal's or Fusions and do the 9005 conversion. Thats my personal opinion.
