Default 1991 LX with 160,000 miles - WORTH BUYING???

I've been a Toyota fan, but have just recently gotten a 1991 Accord LX with 160,000 miles on it (for $1000!)
Aside from the fact that I got it so cheap, my question is, how good did I do buying this? In other words, how long can I expect it to last, was it wise to get this, or can I expect problems shortly, and all that discussion?
I'm hoping this can last me a year or 2 without giving me problems (other than non-problematic routine maintenance, which I'll of course do.)

*** Any thoughts or opinions are most welcome! ***
(I need to feel good and somewhat confident about my buying decision here... )

it's a good deal if it was well maintained.

i don't know about problem free. all cars in general will have problems here and there but hopefully in your case they won't be big.

160k seems like mid life for an accord. last time i went to the junk yard i saw accord with 250k+ on em

Of course it's worth buying as long as it's been maintained/is maintained/will be maintained. I bought my most recent Accord with 250k miles, the one before that with 200k miles, the one before that with 206k miles, and the last one had 160k miles. All ran great and continued to run great until sold. I have a customer here that has one with 450k miles on it. So 160k is hardly broken in.

Are you kidding? What purpose do I have to lie about a customer's car that comes into my shop. How would that benefit me. The last time she came in was 3 months ago. She has a white 93 EX coupe, 5spd transmission. She was/is a courier and uses that car for deliveries and hauling ****. She's kept it maintained and it's lasted her well.

Plus, that's hardly high mileage in the grand scheme of things. There are Volvo's well over even that mark and I'm sure plenty of Accord's with the same. I read an article about a man who had a 1966 Volvo with 2.5 million miles on his car since the day he bought it.

My 96 had a few problems around there but not many like it had the original axles go out sometime around there probably a little after. Well I put Advance auto parts axles in. I made it to 205k and am starting to have problems. The axles went bad so I used good quality OEM Honda ones this time as they lasted a long time before. I had a starter go bad on me. I also had the master cylinder go bad. There have been a few other minor problems but for the most part thats it. I'd say youve got til about 200k then you will have a few problems but shouldn't be too bad and should get plenty more than that out of it you may just have to fix a few things. If it's the car you want I wouldn't hesitate to buy it because of the milage.
