Default Is 74K miles on a type S a lot?

The title says it all. Tomorow im looking at a 2002 acura RSX Type S. It has 74,000 miles on it and i want to know if thats a lot for a RSX. I have no experience with any acura vehicles except for the GS-R teg. If anybody could help me out here that would be greatly appreciated. The guy selling the RSX has a really good deal for it. How long do K20 engines live? Can i mod this RSX safelly? Thanks for the help.

it all depends on how much hes selling it for. like what everyone is going to say, honda engines last pratically forever. in general it is alot of miles for a car thats 2002 but its not much to worry about. what type of person/driver is the owner? i wouldnt chance it if hes the type that needs to crack vtec in reverse or anything like that.

Hes seling it for $12, 999. Im gonna buy it if he knocks off 1k. And i dont think he tried to hit vtec while in reverse. haha. Is that even possible? lol.

^Wow I'm not gonna find out for you.

Anyway, I bought my 02 Type-S last October for $14,600 and that was
with 74k on odometer. $14.6K was an amazing price according to
nadaguides.com & KBB at the time. And that was from a dealer.

According to KBB an 02 Type-S right now
(retail value should be around:

Excellent - $13,660

Good - $12,730

Fair - $11,535

I don't know if the car is modded it all. This could add or decrease value, depending you really. My car has 85k on right now and it's never given me a single problem.

P.S.- I only changed my clutch out because
I wanted a Stage 1 plus the last owner(s)
apparently didn't know how to treat a clutch.

Yeah, I think that's fine for mileage. I'm about to crack 50K on my '02 EP, but I rarely drive it very far, either.

I talked to the guy and the car is not modded at all. He's selling it because he goes to college in New York and doesnt need it. The car looks good on the pics. The interior is clean. I just did a carfax and it has a clean title. Im test driving it tomorow. Anything I should look out for?

As long as you dont think the car has been beat on that milege is nothing on a Honda, I think a lot of us have gone a lot higher and not had major issues.

When buying or selling cars I always thought Edmunds was spot on, even used it when I was selling cars. KBB just makes **** up, I swear they do, no one uses their info to buy or sell cars on the wholesale or retail level.

Even still, according the Edmunds a "clean" 02' RSX-S still shows a value of $12,853.

They base exact value depending on your zip code, the color the car and condition (obviously).

I drove the car today. The car ran nice, the gears shifted smoothly. (2nd didnt grind at all) The body has a couple of dings in it. The leahter isnt in the best shape. But thats ok. But there is a small problem. When i turn the car to the left, there is a noise that sounds like metal grinding together. It would go away and come back. This didnt happen when i turned the wheel to the right. I dont think its a searoius problem. Can anyone tell me what this is? Thanx

sounds like the front passenger side suspension. almost every RSX has this problem.
