is my buddy full of crap
my buddy just bought jdm type r motor, with a ls tranny, fake j's racing intake, and a no name header...and the guy he bought it from told him it puts out 197whp, and now he's telling everyone that, is this even possible?
With the LS tranny is he sure it is even an ITR motor?
I mean the LS will bolt up, but most people sway to an GSR,SI,ITR tranny because of the gear ratios. I have only heard of some drag guys using the LS
From a quick google search it says a stock ITR has 200hp, I am sure that is at the crank. So there is no way that is 197 to the wheels. Unless of course it has been built, or had smothing done to it.

it is a type r, says b18c right on the block, the guy he bought it from screwed up the type r tranny and now has the ls tranny on it, but said it was dynoed as is with the ls tranny at 197whp...but as i said all it has done is a fake j's racing intake, and a no name header...yet the dyno sheets have somehow disappeard...
B18C is both GSR and ITR.
C1 is GSR
C5 is ITR.
There is typically a 15-20% loss from crank HP to wheel HP, with that if you take even a high 210 and take 15% you end up with 178.5. You would need about 230bhp in order to make 197 with a 15% loss.

The JDM ITR engine makes 200 PS. The USDM ITR makes 195 BHP.

soo let me see, fake *** J's racing intake, no name header, LS tranny and making 197whp?....ummm sounds about right...i kid i kid
he's full of crap, its probably a jdm gsr with 150whp

well if its a no name header you may be looking at a type r even though i doubt the power very much, but the headers on a jdm type r look very much aftermarket unlike the cast crap we get stock on our vehicles. does it have red valve cover? even with intake and exhaust honda tech did a dyno with a usdm type r aem intake and dc catbackonly made 11 hp and 5ft lbs i think
no way he is making 197 whp. if he is that dumb to believe it.. he probably didnt even buy a type R. it can be a GSR with a skunk2 maniafold.. PS. putting a LS on a type R engine is the dumbest thing i ever heard
if you dont have dyno sheets, dont believe it, period. lots of people like to throw around numbers. one customer tried to tell me he had a turbo on his car, and there was a switch to turn it on under the dash. I asked to see it, and he said u cant see it under the hood....people are stupid, dont believe any of that crap unless theres some documentation on the car.

seriously, don't believe people's story's. some kid was bragging to me about his 93 civic hatch with a rsx front headlight conversion. it was white and had orange vinyl, and here's the kicker. "Its a REAL CIVIC TYPE R" he says, "straight from Japan". at this point i was so sick of hearing his voice that i just nodded along with his bullshit. hmmmmmm, how do people even believe themselves??

Maybe something the previous owner wouldn't mention possibly?</TD></TR></TABLE>
i doubt i has any internals done cause my buddy was in it and he was really suprised that it didn't pick up speed at all, but i think that has alot to do with the tranny...long gears and 4.2 final drive
...and whoever askeddoes it have a red vavle cover...yes it does

b18c is the jdm type R. the b18c5 is the usdm type R. Ive got the jdm type R but it wont put 197 with just bolt ons. Unless it has some cams he doesnt know about...

B18C1 is a GSR,and a B18C5 is a type R motor. The 197whp can be true, who knows. You have to get it dynoed, the no name headder doesn't matter and the LS tranny would not effect horsepower, so until he gets his **** dynoed there is no way to be certain, because everything is a assumption, and when you assume something to be true, well you know...
bottom line get that **** dynoed.

The red VC means it has at least a vtec head. You can buy the ITR VC and bolt it onto and vtec head. Hopefully it is a real ITR motor and the seller is just full of it.

A red valve cover in general doesnt mean ITR or Vtec, it means it is red. IF the valve cover says Vtec then its a start. a non vtec valve cover wont fit a vtec engine.
BUT, for the record, I have a red VTECH cover on my phone
