DIY Cowl Hood?
I saw a pic of a white Civic that had put like longer bolts and some washers where the hood bolts down and it created like a "cowl hood" effect. Does anyone have pics of this? Has anyone done it?

last time there was a post like this, it got out of hand to why people should or shouldn't do it.

its called the jdm hood pop if i could last recall. The only reason i see why you should do it is if you got a h2b swap in your car or any other motor that would protude enough that you can shut the hood.

yes . I raise the h22 in my civic for more ground clearance. i only had to use two washers.
theres also the argument that it helps cool down the bay. this is true if there is a path in and out

The front side of the windshield is a high pressure area and it actually forces air into the engine bay.
The only reasons I can see to go with this setup is if you have ITBs and a box that breathes from the cowl area or your engine won't fit. (ie: my b20/vtec touches the hood).

d357r0y, the air is passing over the hood onto the glass and being pulled over the top of the car... as the air is going into the engine bay, via the opening in the bumper and under the car itself, it would be sucked out the top where there is a lower pressure, higher vacume. with the hood shut the air that passes through the bumper and radiator, would only escape out the bottom of the car.

JDM hahahhahaha
the hot rodder been doing it for couple decade, as well as n2o in case you ask
most of the cheap fiberglass piece are not functional, the angle of the opening have to be exact, neither way, it will cool the motor a tad, remember air doesn't like to go into something unless there's a way out(think of a straw with a big chuck of boba stuck on the other end

DO THIS INSTEAD, LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER AND IS FUNCTIONAL!!!!!

The higher pressure air traveling over the top of the hood, pulls the hot air out of the engine bay.

if it were higher pressure on the hood, than under the hood the air would be forcing itself into the hood, not over it and causing a vaccume sucking the air out of the engine bay...
