Default stock type r intake better?

I just bought a ef9 hatch and the guy told me the intake on it is an intake off of a type r. he explained that its better than the intake that regularly comes with a jdm b16. can anybody explain this to me. or is it a load of b/s?

You bought a hatch with a B16?

Who's was it? Did you buy it locally?

Anyway, the stock piping is fine on both engines. No big power gaining difference.
